Currently, six research directions are being pursued in my laboratory:

A. Synaptic basis for the functional development and plasticity of sensory cortical synaptic circuitry                                                                                                                       B.  Structure of cortical synaptic circuitry underlying sensory processing                     C. Cellular and molecular basis for activity-dependent plasticity of developing glutamatergic and GABAergic synapses, and for the initial formation of synaptic circuits                                                                                        D. Cellular and molecular mechanisms for synapse formation                           E. Cellular and molecular mechanisms for neuronal cell fate determination       F.  Cortical synaptic circuitry basis for the aging related cognitive decline.

In pursuit of these research directions, we make substantial efforts in technique innovations, particularly, in advancing in vivo electrophysiology tools as well as new innovative molecular genetic techniques.
